It is Laetare Sunday, meaning that we should rejoice because Lent is almost over. Again, I have no idea how we got here so quickly.
I almost opened my comments today, because having them closed is really starting to chafe me. I saw that some other bloggers who had closed their comments decided to open them for Laetare Sunday.
Sundays aren't supposed to "count" during Lent, since every Sunday is a mini-Easter. You only get forty days during Lent if you don't count the Sundays, so you can allegedly have whatever is verboten as long as it's a Sunday.
But I'm not going to do it. Not because I don't want to, or because I'm playing all holier-than-thou, but because I never took Sundays in Lent off. I had never even heard of that until college, and by then it was too late.
So I figure I can make it for a couple more weeks. But just by the skin of my teeth.
In other news, here is what has taken up our attention through most of last week and the weekend. Behold the new floor! :
This picture, which is shoddy camera work at best, doesn't show how beautifully it glows in the late afternoon sunlight.Of course, now the harangues have begun: Don't DO THAT or you will SCRATCH THE NEW FLOOR! Why on earth would you DO THAT in there?! That's it! Only your father and I are allowed to be on the new floor!
Seriously, these kids are gonna kill me.
