33 ** Updated

It is the close of another birth day, and I have to admit that I'm not entirely sorry to see it go.

I've enjoyed the excited ministrations of my children and the solicitous helpfulness of my husband, but I have not enjoyed being mostly awake since 1:30 this morning with a sick Fiver. A very sick Fiver.

I will spare you the details -- I'm sure you can imagine them -- but we have gone through almost every towel in the house and there have been many hurried trips to the bucket or the bathroom. And sometimes some not so hurried trips over the side of the bed.

So I guess I didn't spare you the details after all. Sorry.

It's still my birthday for two more hours, and I am the only one awake in the house now. The silence is its own gift.

I'm 33 today, a non-descript age in many ways. It's not a milestone year, I'm not at the "big one" yet. Whatever the big one really is. I know that I've had bigger birthdays, but each one that comes is a better birthday.

It's all good. Very good. I think I'm going to like 33.
** An Ordinary Mom, whose 33rd birthday is today (1/12), had a great idea for her birthday. She is asking for a comment from anyone who reads her blog, even if they are long time lurkers.

I know it's not my official day anymore, but if you are a reader, or if you are a lurker, will you pop out of cyberspace just this once to say hello? I love to hear from you, instead of just seeing you on my sitemeter.

And if you already commented, thank you. I love to see you there!

  2. Happy Birthday. 33 isn't bad at all. I'm enjoying being 33 and it's an easy number to remember when someone asks how old you are. I hope Fiver is better today and that no one else catches that bug.

  4. Love the picture!!!

I am so sorry you had a rough one with a sick child...oh, how I can relate! It isn't my birthday, but at one point this weekend we had a child on each toilet and I was holding one over the sink as they lost EVERYTHING in them!

Hopefully, the rest of your year will go better!

    Have a great week!

  5. Wishing you a wonderful 33! I was thinking back to my 33 and I had a 3 month old baby and an almost 2 year old. Hmmmmm....I barely remember that year!

Happy Happy Day! 33 is a lucky number (any offshoot of 11 is), so it's bound to be a lucky year!

  11. Happy Birthday, Aim! I was thinking of you yesterday but what I pictured (cake, ice cream, homemade cards, hugs & kisses) was much more pleasant than nursing poor Fiver through is tummy woes.
Hope he's feeling better today and my birthday wish for you is that it doesn't spread through the rest of the family. ;-)

Happy Birthday, my dear sister! I know how you enjoyed our rousing round of Happy Birthday over the phone yesterday! I must say though, that although you were nursing poor Fiver - :( - you have a fantastic family and a wonderful life! I'm sure it gets better every year, and this one will be no different. Oh how jealous I am!!

    Love, Juju

33- I've said all year "I am the age of Christ!". So think of it THAT way! (It does put one's accomplishments into rather sharp relief by comparison, though!)
Be well and enjoy your little ones! Before you know it; THEY'LL be 33!

  18. Why do kids have to be sick on our birthdays? Don't they get the birthday memo? I was up until 3 in the morning with a sick infant, fun times I tell you :) !! And now I am afraid I am coming down with something.

Well, I am a day late, but I still wanted to wish you a very happy 33rd birthday! We have so much in common ... I wish we lived closer to each other.

Happy Belated B-day, Aimee! How can I not leave my first post after a plea like that? I AM a longtime lurker. Can't believe it's only #33! Not that you look older; just that you've done so much...and have done it so well in your 33 short years. I AM a longtime lurker. Love to come check to see what your family is up to. Seems like yesterday you were here with only Francie and Fiver...boggles my mind you've got two more now!! All we've added is a dog :)

Your arrival, although 3 weeks past due, was text-book! What a beautiful, pink, round-faced darling you were! Sunday's child...bonnie and gay....you were and have remained a lovely, good-natured, person...always a joy to Daddy and me...it truly seems like yesterday, but what wonderful things have occurred in the last 33 years...and more to come,I'm sure...we love you...have a happy year....

Happy day after, Aimee! I am a pal of your friend IRL, DKL, and I've lurked for some time. Sorry to hear of your unfortunate birthday gifts from Fiver. That's the pits any day of the year, but especially your birthday :(

I hear that 33 is the Perfect Age because of Jesus' age as well. Hope it is for you!!
