The Last Night

I knew you all rocked, but now I know that you seriously rock. You all know your tunes!

I ended up having so much fun reading your responses, that I might have to do this meme again, but next time offer a prize. Hmm, I'll have to mull it over for the new year . . .

There's one lonely song left on the list, and I can't stand to see it there, so I'll answer. It's Straight to my Heart by Sting. Rob knew it, but of course, he's the one who put all the Sting on the iPod in the first place, so that's not a big surprise.

The eve of our new year is a quiet one so far. Rob is on call, so that means we are housebound with a trove of unhealthy and delicious food, trying to stay awake until midnight. Not a bad way to spend an evening, all things considered.

I've cleared out my Google Reader, visited all my favorite blogs one last time in 2008, and now I'm listening to Rob watch LSU put a hard core beat down on Georgia Tech in the Chik-Fil-A Bowl. (The gang over at One More Equals Four must be having a lovely end to their football season!)

As you can see, we are at the epicenter of an exciting nightlife.

I've also succumbed to a few more rounds of my latest obsession: Scramble on Facebook. I knew this game would become a rabbit-hole for me; I am a sucker for any kind of word game. In addition to its addictive qualities, Facebook engages in some lively trash-talking on my behalf.

While I am just trying to beat my personal best scores, Facebook sends little messages to my friends telling them that I have beaten them and that they need to put me back in my place. I don't know if I can take that kind of pressure from a social networking site.

I was going to trot out a 2008 retrospective, but I think that will have to wait until 2009. There is a bitterly cold wind howling outside, but there are cheesecake bars and hot chocolate inside.

I think it's time to power down, snuggle up by the tree with Rob, watch some fireworks on television, and count my 2008 blessings. Part of which I count you, my friends. God bless your new year.

  1. Sounds like a great night. We ate some awesomely unhealthy snack foods. We watched a lot of Survivorman, as well as some of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock songs. We were puke-free until about 2:30 in the morning. 12:01 hit and we were in bed. I don't mind starting a new year in my warm, cozy, affordable house at all. Here's to another year of blogging friendships.

  2. Cheesecake bars and hot cocoa trump a 'year in review' post anytime in my book. Good choice.

Happy 2009 to the members of Home Front Corp!
