{p,f,h,r}: The Yes, Sir, That's My Baby Edition

Just one picture today, my friends, but an exclusive one.

Very rarely does it happen that a friend stops you at an event, points a camera in your face, says "Say Cheese!", snaps the picture, and then returns a halfway decent picture to you a few months later.

At least, that very rarely happens to me.  Usually, the candid pictures that friends take of me never surface and I can only assume that my dear friends, who love me, saw the terrible photo and vowed to never let it see the light of day.  For which I am eternally grateful.

But this one I do love, mostly for dear Baby's expression.  People have gone to the gallows with more humorous expressions.  She must be perfecting her poker face.

I also love this one because it is the only picture of Baby and me in existence.  I don't even have a picture of the two of us at her birth.  Pretty sad, I think.

I'm not trying to bring you down with my issues, just being {real}.  I know worrying about appearances is  nothing when compared to the real problems of the world.  But still . . .

How have I reached a point where I hate pictures of myself so much that I have only one example of how incredibly happy my wee hen makes me?  I don't know when that happened.

I love my kids with every cell in my body; I love my life and I am grateful for it; and I love that God has given me the gift of a body that has capably grown six amazing people.

I may not love the way I look, but I respect my body for all it does.  And I want more pictures like this.

  1. Love it. I'll have to show you our church directory picture when it comes out, if I can figure out how to scan just us. Lily is giving the photographer a glare to end all glares. It is awesome.

We don't have pictures of us with the kids very much either. I try to take a lot of pictures of the kids, but I know I need to take more and be in more. Let's work on it together.

  2. You should so not hate yourself in are so PRETTY!! Oh my goodness, if you could only see yourslef through my eyes. I also hate being in pictures, but every once in a great while I hand off the camera to the husband and say "Take a picture of me with the kids", and at the moment I'm not glad to have that picture, but looking back I am always glad I did. It's something us moms have to work on :)

  3. So true about those types of shots almost never turning out well... But! You are beautiful, and your baby is adorable. I love (love!) her expression!

It's so easy to see the flaws when we look at photos of ourselves, but I try to remind myself that my kids will *love* looking at them when they're older! And they'll be so distracted by how young I am and how silly my clothes are that they won't notice whatever little problems I'm fixated on now!

  4. I hear you on this. I used to not mind photos of me... until after the baby. I notice all the flaws is right, but I like Rosie's take. Colleen's right, you are so pretty!!!

It's also a good reminder to get all those photos I take and make copies and finally send them to the lucky subjects of my paparazzi moments! Working on it! Thanks.

You are and have always been so beautiful. And all of your children are beautiful. And your husband is beautiful! Got it?

Go ahead and say it. You know you want to.
