Happy Thanksgiving!
I'd love to be able to post a picture of my table, set well ahead of the big meal with pretty plates and sparkling glassware, but that's not how it happens here.
Even though it's a feast day, I still have lots of little bodies who want to eat their regular meals. At the table on their regular old plastic dishes, no less. And as much as I want to just throw them some crackers until dinner and call it good, the reality is that I'll find myself making ham sandwiches at noon, just like every other day.
Instead of a pretty table, I'm posting a picture of how it really goes down in this house and I'm coming clean about the half eaten apple crisp sitting on my stove. Rob and I cannot help ourselves - we are powerless when it comes to crisp. Happily, I made two so I could live up to the family motto of "go big or go home."
I pray that your tables are just as full as ours and that they are surrounded by the smiling faces of the people you love. Happy Thanksgiving from the whole HomeFront gang!

Happy Thanksgiving! Savor each moment with your little ones, even if they do demand HAM sandwiches on Turkey Day :)
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted that "pretty table" picture, too. After so many years, I'm beginning to think it may never happen.
ReplyDeleteAnd that crisp? It looks so good. No wonder you couldn't help yourselves!
I like the new look.
ReplyDeleteWe intentionally had snacks for lunch in preparation for turkey dinner. I made sure there was some ham/turkey/cheese and crackers out, as well as fruit.
Hope your day was wonderful.
Thanksgiving was wonderful! All of the food was scrumptious.(My children and their spouses really outdid themselves this year!)And even my Francie was grown up enough to make the rolls! The grandchildren were so beautiful. They are truly a delight in every way! I was the last one to arrive at the house since I had to work until 3PM. I must say it is so gratifying to walk into your home and have all the children sream "GeeGee" and run from every corner of the house to greet me!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I delight in my grandchildren, I also enjoy my children...at the end of the evening, Rob put the little ones to bed and cleaned the kitchen and then it was grown-up time. It warmed my heart to snuggle with Daddy on the sofa and listen to my children,Rob and J play a board game, and laugh, laugh, laugh!!! We have been so blessed and I am so thankful for my wonderful family.
