Once in a Blue Moon

So, I'm supposed to blog here occasionally? Is that how it works?

It seems like I only pop around the old blog once in a blue moon anymore, but since tonight is an official Blue Moon, I guess we're in luck!

We've spent much of our Christmas vacation on the road, with all the resultant joys and hassles.

We've had a wonderful time seeing loved ones that we rarely see, but to say that our absence has left the house in disarray would be too kind.

Not only does our living room look like the headquarters for a Toys 'R Us and Target merger, thanks to my children's extremely generous relatives, but all the regular daily chores have been pushed to the side in favor of frivolity.

Bad move, especially on the laundry front. In fact, we have so much laundry piled up that a few days ago my children had to spend the better part of a day in their pajamas because all of their clothes were either in the washer or the dryer.

It's been that kind of Christmas vacation -- exhaustively fun.

And now we are on the doorstep of a new year . . .

I am usually brimming with a long list of goals, but this time around I find that I am just hunkering down for the long winter.

It's not that I don't have things I'd like to change or work on, but I think that all my energy is focused on getting this baby cooked. I wonder if the waiting will make the winter seem longer or shorter? Easter seems very far away right now, but Lent has a way of sneaking up on me.

I thank God for the good year past and I pray that we all may enjoy a happy and healthy new one.

Thanks for kicking around with me, my friends. It's truly been my pleasure.

Happy New Year!

  3. Hope it will be a happy & healthy year!

We have the same problem around here with laundry and the house. Why is is that when no one is home, the house gets that much messier?

Happy baby brewing in 2010, Aimee. Thanks for another great year of reading. I always love coming here.

PS- huge snowstorm here in Maine, so I was able to do 7 loads of laundry since I couldn't go anywhere.
