Everybody in the Pool

I found out today that my baby -- the one who refuses to speak and has only just started walking and feeding himself -- will happily hurl himself face first into the water and come up laughing.

Not scary to me at all.

Now please excuse me while I go purchase about three life vests for him to wear simultaneously.

But in other news, I'm pretty sure the funk is almost completely gone. Taking four kids to the pool leaves me too exhausted to maintain a funk. :)

  1. Glad to hear he is walking and feeding himself. And apparently learning to swim! :)
They do love to keep us on our toes.

  2. I love a water baby! Looks like you need to spend a lot of time at the pool. He can practice walking to the waters edge to throw himself in and then feeding himself to satisfy the appetite he worked up. Sounds like the rest of your summer is planned :)

  3. The chlorine must be a good anti-funk agent!

  4. Glad to hear you are feeling better, nothing like a child hurling himself into a near death experience to help change your perspective!

  5. Ack! I'm sure you sprouted an extra gray hair watching that stunt.

  6. We go to the pool everyday here... yes, I know, it's hotter than h*ll, but it's for me. All me.
I'm in major funk-mode by 2pm when I've played referee all day. So we go, get some sun and surf, and I feel so. much. better.
It's all that vitamin D and seratonin, I'm convinced.
    Glad you're feeling better!

  7. I know exactly what you mean. We're still battling that one. Life vests are the best things ever.

  9. Bubba won't speak, either! How funny. He will sometimes sort of parrot words that you say, and they come out pretty clearly, but he won't use them again. He will say "dada". He also says "boom-boom", which means bottle. He will drink juice or water from a cup, but milk has to come out of a bottle for him or else he flatly refuses to drink it. It chagrins me, greatly, because I would love to get rid of the bottles, and I know he's at the age where he shouldn't be using them. He seems to operate on his own timeline.

  10. My brother Frank didn't talk till he was 3. Something about a big sister doing all the talking for him. whatever.

You might have to change Bun's alias to Danger Boy or something like that.

You know, he is so many shades of your baby brother...

  12. Oh, and my dad didn't talk until he was 3 and his big brother went off to school. Then he went from nothing at all, to complete sentences--because no one was there to tell his mom what he wanted. If he wanted it, he had to say so.

I heard somewhere that children who speak late are often mathematically gifted. (Dad's an accountant).

Go ahead and say it. You know you want to.
