All in a Day's Work

This is what I did today. And this picture doesn't even show half of what I made.

I went through so much butter that you might as well call me Paula Deen, but I now have chocolate chip, chocolate peanut butter chip, and pecan tassies in my freezer. In my fridge, I have shortbread dough and sugar cookie dough just waiting for little hands and cookie cutters and lots of colored sugar.

Oh, and how can I forget the chocolate dipped pretzel rods? Salty and sweet . . . perfect!

It's a good thing for my spirit and my waistline that I give it all away. Except for the broken ones, of course. It's just bad form to give away broken cookies.

This is one humdinger of a week coming up -- band concerts, Christmas pageants, and choir rehearsals, oh my! -- so I am going to make myself a little scarcer than I had planned.

I want to give my husband and my children the gift of my time, the gift of an unharried approach to Christmas, and, as much as I enjoy it, I cannot do what I really want to do for my family from the computer.

(Although I have a feeling I'll be burning some midnight oil this week, so maybe I'll be able to do a little internet loitering while I'm at it.)

Enjoy your last week of Advent, my friends. For me, it promises to be a wild ride, but at least I have sustenance.

  2. Aimee...those look amazing. I am very impressed.
I should have been doing that too, but I sat on my rumpus.
Those little pecan something or others look really good.

  3. Wow, I am impressed, holiday baking done! I have all my ingredients sitting on my counter but that is as far as I have gotten. Yesterday I made about 500 million meatballs due to my wonderful inspiration to cook dinner for all of our teachers this year as a Christmas gift. If you hear me mention that idea next year, please remind me that I have four children and that is A LOT of meatballs!

Have a great week. Enjoy the time with your family!

  7. I haven't done baking yet either but I have about 8 pounds of butter at the ready...
We go through a pound a week around here even if I DON'T bake. I swear I should get my own cow and a churn.
Can I come over and eat cookies?
