Same Old, Same Old

It's back to the old grind this week, and I'm having party withdrawal.** I spent way too much time reading blogs during last week's Ultimate Blog Party, and now I am paying the piper - paying him with hard time in the laundry room. I am trying to catch up on all the chores I neglected when I so flagrantly broke the 11th Commandment last week, and things got so messy that I thought of maybe just lighting a match and starting from scratch. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed.

I read so many witty, well-written, and deeply moving blogs last week, and I was hard pressed not to subscribe to three or four or thirty new feeds. I have to admit to being a little - what's the word - intimidated? awed? exhausted? by some blogs out there. Women who are homeschooling their eight children while running a home-based business; dabbling in sustainable, organic farming; rising with the dawn to bake their own bread from scratch; and running a marathon in their spare time. I thought I was busy! All I have to say is that there are some amazing people out there.

I know the gals over at 5 Minutes for Mom want us to write a post all about our blog party circuit, and the new people we dig, but I am not exaggerating by saying that my family is in jeopardy of going commando if I do not get my act together. Add to that the fact that I have come to the dreaded and unfortunate conclusion that, if I hope to maintain any semblance of a schedule or agenda for the day, I need to hit the treadmill and get my run/walk in before the children are awake. Why is that such a dreaded and unfortunate conclusion you ask? Well, it does have a little something to do with the fact that The Boy wakes up at 5:15. In the morning. Have mercy! I might as well get my hand into sustainable, organic farming seeing as how I'll be up with the cows now anyway. Wish me luck - I'm already tired just thinking about it.

**I was able to overcome my post-party letdown with some sweet tickets to see The Police in concert this July. It's part of an anniversary gift for Rob, since he is the hard-core Police/Sting fan, but I admit to being pretty stoked about it myself.

  1. The Party definitely was the ultimate party of the year, if not of the decade. I, too, met a lot of amazing ladies. I am so thankful for 5 Minutes For Mom for creating this event, even if it meant not fully living the 11th commandment :) !!

I am so jealous of your Police/Sting tickets. I saw Sting in concert nearly 13 years ago and it was wonderful!

Good luck getting back into the swing of things.

  2. Sweet! Your husband is one lucky guy--and you are lucky too. I would love to see the Police in concert.
You know, I read a lot of blogs during the party, but only added one or two to my regular reads. I feel overwhelmed by all the blogs out there. I had to decide that it was okay to miss out on some good ones.

The laundry didn't suffer too badly during the blog party at my house. I sacrificed sleep instead. Now I'm trying to wean myself off reading 50 different blogs each day, checking my blog stats every 15 minutes to see how many people checked out my blog or if anyone left a new comment. It is SOOOO hard but I've got myself down to checking once every 2 hours at the most.

  4. Oh yeah, baybee! I found loads and chunks of new blogs I want to continually read. My Google Reader about had a fit with me adding so many all at once...
