Procrastinate Much?

My kids start school in one week.

Their uniforms are in an unwashed heap on the laundry room floor, and I still need to pull some parts of their uniforms out of storage. Fiver still needs sneakers for gym, and they both need to try on their school shoes to check the fit.

In essence, I have many miles to go before they are ready to walk out the door.

So what did I do today?

I let the kids run wild while I reorganized my pantry, watched Olympics replays, and spent way too much time on iTunes.

Obviously I have my priorities straight.

As much as the kids and I are looking forward to getting back into our cozy schedules, I am not ready to let go of summer. I am not ready to send my oldest son to a full day of school. I crumble a little inside when I think of it.

But it's coming whether the uniforms are washed or not, so I have to buckle down and make sure they are ready. Because I don't think I'll ever be.

I'll be back in a few, my friends.

  1. You are one step ahead of me. I haven't done ANY back to school shopping yet (no backpack, pencils, lunch box). I am also counting on last years uniforms fitting her or I will be making a unplanned side trip to Exton to get more. She starts Sep 2nd so I figure I have time yet(right?). We do have sneakers but only because she needed them for camp. I won't have to get the assigned school shoes until they change uniforms in October. Good Luck and enjoy the last few days before the hectic pace begins again.

  2. Me neither.
(I know you don't really want to read those words from a teacher.)
...I'll snap out of it when I see the kids. It's those MEETINGS that make me nuts.

  3. hey, look, at least school doesn't start tomorrow, right? You've got a whole week! And really, you just have to have enough done for the first day. You can get a lot done while they're at school. No worries!

  4. As much as I know we need the structure to our days, I am not looking forward to the beginning of school. I just don't want to be on someone else's schedule. Oh well, looks like I will be getting into that routine anyway.

  5. Run.
    Run faster.
Run as fast as you can.
    Oh.
    Not fast enough.
    Tag.
    You're it.
